A woman is on edge after an attempted carjacking and robbery at an ATM in northwest Atlanta.
The victim, who didn't want to be identified, told FOX 5 the crime happened Wednesday night at a Wells Fargo bank on Chattahoochee Avenue.
She said, while using the ATM, a man got into her vehicle and tried to drive away. However, she wouldn't let him go without a fight.
"I started grabbing, pulling, punching, anything I could do to get this young man," she said.
The woman said she realizes police warn people about confronting criminals in that situation. She insisted she acted on instinct. She said, while squaring off with the man, the two crashed the car into the side of the bank's building. Then the man ran off with her wallet and ID.
She stressed from now on she won't leave her car running while using the ATM.
"Lock everything up at all times. We tend to forget the type of world we live in...that was a rude awakening for me," she added.
Police say surveillance cameras may have captured the incident.
