Atlanta Police are looking for the gunman who shot and killed an up-and-coming Atlanta actress, hours before her birthday.

Friday night, police responded to 911 calls of shots fired in a strip mall parking lot at 2100 Cheshire Bridge Road, where they found a woman in her thirties shot multiple times. The Fulton County Medical Examiner identified the woman as Jokisha Brown, 35, from Duluth.

Police said Brown was found in the driver's seat of a Mercedes sedan.

Saturday would have been the woman's 36th birthday. Friends said Brown leaves behind a teenage son.

No suspects are in custody. Police tell FOX 5 they are interviewing witnesses and hope to obtain more leads from nearby surveillance cameras.

Friends told FOX 5 Brown, also known to friends as "Kisha," went to get her makeup done at a beauty parlor at the strip mall, then was planning on going out for her birthday.

Friends started a small memorial for Brown at the scene and held a vigil Saturday night, to pray for justice and her family's loss.

Brown was a local actress, model and dancer for music videos.

"She loved being on set, on stage. She was such an inspiration to people," said Jordan Jackson, who worked with Brown to produce various short films for social media.

Various Atlanta celebrities and rappers paid tribute to the actress on social media, from Yung Joc to Trick Daddy, praising her talents and mourning her death.
