EAST POINT, Ga. - An emotional sendoff took place early Tuesday morning in East Point as family and friends gathered to say goodbye to 60 members of the Army Reserve being deployed to the Middle East.
Members of the 335th Signal command Detachment 10 will spend the next 12 months serving in Afghanistan and Kuwait. They'll provide communications for Army efforts all over the Middle East.
The men and women in the Detachment come from all over the country, as far away as Hawaii. For some this is their first deployment; others have gone multiple times.
The 335th Signal Command has the longest running deployment going back to 1991, the original Gulf War.
Family members and soldiers told FOX 5 being apart will be difficult, but they both said that they will stay in communication the best they can. Loved ones being left behind said they're proud of the soldiers.
The troops also said that they are ready to serve the country.
