Brush fire spreads to vacant apartments in northwest Atlanta

Officials said a brush fire spread to two vacant apartment buildings in northwest Atlanta early Thursday morning.

It happened near the intersection of Bolton Road and Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway. 

Firefighters responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m.

Hydrants close to the buildings were dry so firefighters had to get 2,500 feet of hose to extinguish the fire.

The flames were put out within two hours upon arrival. 

Firefighters said they will work with the city to determine why the fire hydrants were dry.

No injuries were reported. 

Firefighters said the two vacant buildings were damaged in the blaze. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
