Tripp Halstead continues to make progress 5 years after accident
Sunday, October 29, will mark five years since Tripp Halstead was critically injured in a devastating accident. Since then, the 7-year-old has been making great progress with a loving family by his side.

In 2012, Tripp was outside his Winder, Georgia daycare center when a tree limb fell on him. He suffered severe brain injuries and spent months recovering at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta after the accident.
"This weekend is the anniversary of Tripp's accident so we are having a nice quiet family dinner at moms on Sunday to celebrate Tripp's huge accomplishments over the past five years," mother Stacy Halstead said on the Tripp Halstead Updates Facebook page this week.
Last week, Stacy shared a video of Tripp that was taken 10 days before the accident took place. In the Facebook post, Stacy said she puts the video on Facebook every year and plans on taking flowers to the daycare where the accident happened.
"This is the little voice I remember, this is the little smile I remember, this is one of my favorite videos of my sweet boy. He was just two yrs old. I can’t believe he is a 7 yr old now," Stacy said in the post.
"Time is a crazy thing. I’m just so thankful that Tripp is still here and giving me more joy than I could have ever imagined. I love him more every single day. He is my world and I’m so proud of him," said Stacy.

This summer, Stacy also posted an update showing that Tripp is making great progress in his recovery. Stacy Halstead said her son did "so great in his stander." Tripp started using a new "sit to stand" stander this summer at mobility clinic. The device offers therapy support in seated and standing positions.
"It will be awesome for his hips, feet and digestive system," Stacy said this summer when she was first exposed to the sit-to-stand stander. "He was so comfortable in it, he actually fell asleep."

Tripp previously worked on a different stander at home, but he's since outgrown it. Stacy also said Tripp sat in his wheelchair straight up and never needed his HeadPod.
In Thursday's post, she continued thanking the prayers and support coming in as Sunday approaches.
"Thank you for all your prayers and support. Love you all. You guys have been such an important part of this journey. You accept our family through the good times and bad," Stacy said in the post.
