Gregory Neal, 22, was charged with murder in the death of a 21-year-old Airiyuanna Burston. Police believe Neal was in the back seat of a passing car that was involved in a road incident with the car in which Burston was riding. Burston was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, but later died.

It happened around 4 p.m. along I-20 westbound near Wesley Chapel Road. Police said the driver of the vehicle in which Burston was riding, Decardo Glenn, was cut off by a dark-colored SUV. Glenn told investigators he then pulled up beside the vehicle and exchange words. That’s when police said he heard a single gunshot.

Glenn was not charged in the incident. Near was booked into the DeKalb County Jail.

The crime scene and response by emergency crews Thursday afternoon caused snarling traffic during rush hour. At least two westbound lanes of traffic were blocked through rush hour while investigators combed over the scene.
