STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - A DeKalb County high school was placed on lockdown after a shooting at a nearby gas station Thursday morning.
Officials said a person was shot in the chest at the Chevron gas station in the 1100 block of North Hairston Road. The 21-year-old victim was taken to the hospital around 7:40 a.m. in serious condition.
Police brought in K-9s to help track down the gunman, who was seen heading toward an apartment complex on North Hairston Road.
As a precaution, Stone Mountain High School and Hambrick Elementary School were placed on lockdown, according to police.
