East Point Police have released surveillance video of five men investigators want to talk to in connection with a deadly carjacking.

The men have been described as “persons of interest” and were seen at an Exxon service station on Cleveland Avenue buying gasoline after the deadly carjacking and before the charred Nissan Maxima was found.

Police said three men with guns pulled their weapons on Terrick Mathews and his friend as they sat in the car at the Parkside at Camp Creek Apartments.

Detectives said Mathews and the driver were getting out of the car when Mathews was shot in the neck and died on the scene.

The suspects took the car, but it was found torched and left in another set of apartments not far from the Exxon Gas station.

Matthew's mother said her son was a devoted father to his two children, had just been hired on a new job, and called to wish her a happy birthday just hours before he died.

East Point Police said they need the public's help to identify the persons of interest and remind everyone that tipsters could receive a Crime Stoppers reward in the case.

Matthew's funeral is set for Wednesday at Murray Brother's Funeral Home.
