The Auburn Police Department has confirmed with FOX 5 Atlanta that there was an officer-involved shooting near Parks Mill Road and County Line-Auburn Road.
Police said that the shooting came after a police chase between officers and multiple suspects.
Three suspects are currently in custody. Two are injured.
A Barrow County Sheriff's Deputy on routine patrol tried to pull over a black pickup truck for failure to maintain lane on Hwy 316 just after noon Tuesday. The driver sped off leading deputies on a chase for 16 minutes, crossing over into Gwinnett County at one point, and ending on a rural stretch of road in Auburn.
A deputy performed a pit maneuver to stop the vehicle. That's when someone inside the truck shot at the deputies. Deputies returned fire, wounding two of the three occupants.
"It was a very chaotic scene. There was a lot of shell casings down there from this incident,' said Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith.

All three were taken into custody. No deputies were injured. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle.
Sheriff Smith praised his deputies efforts.
"The deputies did a great job trying to get them stopped. They had ample time to stop, they had ample time to pull over they chose not too."
