It has been five months since sanitation workers found a body wrapped in plastic on the side of the road and investigators said Thursday they need help solving the crime.

DeKalb County Police and the family of Steven Blevins, 23, made a public plea for information.

"They took the best man of our lives away and I just want answers," said Portia Blevins, the victim's mother. "People say that you rest in peace.  He's not at peace [be]cause justice ain't been served for him."

According to investigators, county workers discovered Blevins's body near Warriors Path on February 20, 2018. He had been shot to death.

Police said the evidence leads them to believe that Blevins knew his killer and that the shooter was likely a close friend.

"There's no telling what this sort of person would be willing to do to other members of that community," said DeKalb County Police Detective V. R. Van Hees. "So, at this point, I feel that it's critical in order to ensure the safety and the standard of living for that community that someone needs to come forward."

Anyone with information should contact the DeKalb County Police Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers.
