DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A man is in custody after police said he stabbed his wife and then later kidnaped their daughter.
Atlanta Police said officers responded to a call of a person stabbed on James Jack Parkway at around 8:49 Sunday morning.
According to investigators, Marlon Dobbins, 33, was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife that ended with him stabbing her in the chest. Officers have asked FOX 5 not to release the victim's name.
Dobbins stole his wife's car and dropped her off at Wellstar Cobb Hospital before driving to a home on Eastwyck Road Decatur, police said.
Investigators said Jada Dobbins, 4, was staying there with her aunt.
"He shoved [her aunt] back out of the way, came in the door and he ran upstairs and as soon as I heard the commotion, [...] he ran out with the baby," said a witness inside the home who did not want to be identified.
Several hours later, Cobb County Police arrested Dobbins after he and Jada showed up at Dobbins's home in Mableton. Officials said the girl was unharmed.
"We were able to track him because the mother's cell phone was in the car," explained DeKalb County Police Spokeswoman Shiera Campbell.
The victim remains in the hospital in serious, but stable condition. Officials said that she is alert, conscious, and breathing.
"She is talking," said Campbell. "She's been helping detectives and providing information on the father."
Dobbins will likely face charges of aggravated assault, kidnapping and auto theft and more charges could be added.
