DeKalb County teen shot in her bedroom, dies

DeKalb Police said a 17-year-old man has turned himself into police, and are interviewing him to find a motive for the shooting death of a 16-year-old in her DeKalb County bedroom Monday night.

Police said Carl Moore turned himself in to DeKalb County Police Tuesday afternoon at police headquarters.

Moore is charged with malice murder in the death of 16-year-old Jewell Jefferson.

Police said they believed only Moore was involved in the shooting death.

The incident happened in the 5200 block of Great Meadows Road around 7 p.m. DeKalb County Police said Jefferson was rushed to the hospital after being found shot in her bed. She later died.
