ATHENS, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Georgia’s head football coach urged the Bulldog Nation to “Hunker Down for Harrison” Friday in memory of a young Georgia fan who just lost his life.
In a tweet Thursday, Coach Kirby Smart asked Georgia fans to honor the life of Harrison Hooks Friday by wearing red and black.
The 8-year-old Grady County boy died Sunday when he was crushed by a four-wheeler.
Georgia State Troopers said Harrison was driving the all-terrain vehicle by himself on the family’s lawn north of Cairo when he made a sharp turn to avoid hitting a small tree, lost control and was ejected.
Harrison’s father posted about his son Wednesday on the 247 Sports website and talked about his son’s love of Georgia football.
Bill Hooks wrote:
“My son Harrison Hooks was the 8 y/o who died in the ATV accident. His favorite things in life were Jesus Christ, Family, and UGA football! He was a wonderful child who wanted everyone he met to have a relationship with Jesus so they could all go to heaven with him. He is in heaven now and for that we praise God! He also loved UGA football and was excited about our new recruiting class and our chances for the 2019 season. He could tell you the starting lineup for both sides of the ball. Our family has two requests, This Friday February 1st please wear Red and Black to honor Harrison. Post pictures on your social media so that we can turn the world Red and Black for Harrison. Our second request is that you honor Harrison’s wish that everyone would go to heaven with him by asking Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior. Thank you for all of the love and support!”
