Max visits beach for first time during bittersweet trip
As he works to become a service dog for a veteran with disabilities, Max is constantly learning new things and being exposed to new environments. Recently, that included his first trip to the beach!
It was a bittersweet vacation for Max and his Canine Assistants instructor Kristen LaFevers as they said goodbye to a beloved volunteer, 51-year-old Frank "Kenny" Tipton.
Max accompanied Kristen to Barrancas National Cemetery at the Pensacola Naval Air Station, where Tipton was laid to rest. Tipton was a Navy veteran and a longtime pilot for Delta.

"It was really cool for Max to be part of that experience, and, of course, offer a lot of smiling faces," said Kristen on Good Day Atlanta Wednesday morning.
While they were in Florida, Kristen and her fiance, Jonathan Hill, took Max to the beach. To say the least, the 1-year-old Golden Retriever loved it.
"It was so fun," Kristen recalled. "He got to roll and play in the sand."
Following their trip to Florida, Max spent some time with his siblings at the Canine Assistants farm, then returned to work at FOX 5 Wednesday morning.
Max will spend the next few weeks with foster Donna Bell, an account executive for the FOX 5 sales department.
