Heavy rain, flash flood concerns

After a brief break on Tuesday, rain is back for Wednesday and Thursday.  Rain will be heavy at times, and will result in some flash flooding concerns - especially for far north Georgia. Areas of north Georgia can expect 1 1/2"-3" of rain, with isolated amounts up to 4" between Wednesday morning and Thursday evening.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for counties in north Georgia through Thursday evening. Rising rivers and streams and isolated flash flooding are possible.

By afternoon, we'll transition to more persistent rain holding over areas north of I-20. Areas south of I-20 are more likely to get some decent breaks in between passing showers.

For Thursday, a cold front will move through from late morning into the afternoon.  Along the cold front, gusty thunderstorms are possible.

As the line of thunderstorms passes, there will be a brief period of time where a couple of severe storms will be possible due to damaging wind gusts.
