The $1.6 billion sports and entertainment arena calls itself the new heart of Atlanta, and will also be home to Atlanta's soccer team, Atlanta United FC. The project has been 10 years in the making and includes 28,000 tons of steel and 19 mega columns.

The 71,000 seat stadium has plenty of unique features.

"This is a fully fiber optic stadium. The first in the United States to be immersed in a thrilling experience that is digital and allows them to share out that moment through their social networks," Arthur M Blank Group CEO Stephen Cannon remarked.

The stadium includes an elaborate, restaurant/bar ambiance in the Mercedes-Benz Club for 3,000 premium seat holders, a player designed locker room and a 100 Yard Club that is a tribute to Falcon players in the 300 section.

Atlanta United has its own locker room and designated space.

"We are not the little brother to the Falcon's, it was important for Atlanta United to have its own identity," said franchise president Darren Eales.

Food will be affordable and include lots of variety.

"Is it mechanized yet, where we can close it fast enough for an event. No. Will it be? Yes, in the near future," McKay promised.

The Falcons will play their first exhibition game against the Arizona Cardinals, August 26 at. 7 p.m.
