Video: robber holds up phone store, ties up woman

Canton Police are on the lookout for a dangerous robber who held up a worker inside a Verizon store at gunpoint, tied her up, then fled with a large number of cell phones.

Police said the ordeal happened Wednesday morning around 10:30 a.m. at the store in the 3700 block of Marietta Highway.

"He's a predator. We want him off the streets," said Officer Pacer Cordry. Police said the crime is unusually brazen for this part of Cherokee County.

Investigators said the suspect pulled up in a 2016 to 2018 Nissan Sentra and entered the store when no one was inside. That's when police said the man brandished his gun, forced the woman into the back of the store and zip tied her hands and legs, before helping himself to a number of cell phones inside the store and quickly fled.

The woman was able to get out of her hand ties and called police and 911.

Investigators are working to determine if the man seen in the video is responsible for similar crimes around metro Atlanta.

Workers in stores and restaurants around the strip mall by the Verizon store said they are concerned the robbers could target them too.

"The boss says to make sure everyone is safe," said waitress Alex Davidson, who said her nearby restaurant plans to monitor who comes in and out, especially late at night.
