'Tough love' - Sheriff says father turned in child after spotting drugs

- The Walton County sheriff is praising a father’s tough choice to turn in their child for drug possession.

Deputies said they were called out to the home after that concerned parent spotted what they thought was cocaine. The child ended up being booked on charges of trafficking of ecstasy, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during a felony and possession of a firearm by an underage person.

Deputies said the child was taken to the regional youth detention center.

A post made on the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page reads:

“As hard as it was for the parent to see his child have to face the consequences of his decisions, we commend the father for the tough choice he had to make today for his child’s better tomorrow. Probably not a lot of parents could choose such tough love.”
