Thousands of metro Atlanta students head back to school

Thursday marks the first day of school for thousands of students across north Georgia, including Cobb County.

This year, there are some new learning tools students will have at their fingertips in Cobb. Good Day Atlanta's Alexa Liacko visited Compton Elementary School in Powder Springs and learned about the new technology helping students succeed.

A new action-based learning lab will allow students to exercise while they read and do math. This will help children remember things longer and pay better attention to what they're learning.

"The students will be standing at the board instead of sitting at their desks," said second-grade teacher Lauren Debryun. "So they'll be able to see what each other's doing. They'll learn from one another."
