The man accused of shooting and killing a war veteran, leaving him in the middle of the road in downtown Buford faced a judge and the victim’s family Wednesday afternoon.

Jerome Daniel Colvin, 34, of Auburn, Ga., was arrested and charged with felony murder, malice murder, and aggravated assault Tuesday afternoon shortly after the deadly shooting. He is accused by police of gunning down Allen Craig Willard Jr., 25, of Suwanee, and leaving him to die in the middle of South Lee Street and West Main Street.

The two were former co-workers, but it is still not clear what led up to the confrontation.

Colvin was surrounded in the courtroom Wednesday as the judge read the charges against him.

Family members, clearly emotional, yelled at Colvin as he was escorted out of the room in handcuffs.
