Superheroes join APD officers to celebrate everyday heroes for Black History Month

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Some of Marvel's superheroes join the Atlanta Police Department to celebrate everyday superheroes in honor of Black History Month.

Young people part of the Police Athletic League were invited to Anderson Park for Wednesday's event.

Attendees learned about the department's first eight black police officers and the impact they had on policing Wednesday.

Superheroes from Marvel Universe Live also led the kids in several physical activities.

The kids then received tickets to the Marvel Universe Live show at the Infinite Energy Center.

The show runs on Friday through Sunday.
