Small plane crash in Georgia sends 4 to hospital

A small plane crash in Lamar County has sent four people to the hospital Saturday morning.

The Lamar County Sheriff's Office said they were called to Redbone Run,a small flying community off of Community House Road, Saturday morning around 10:55.

When they arrived on the scene, deputies saw a small plane that had crash landed in the woods. Still inside were four people.

The pilot told police that on takeoff the plane seemed to have a mechanical failure when they were around tree level and veered left, causing the crash.

Medics transported the four victims to Macon Medical Hospital. Officials said the injuries were "not serious."

The Sheriff's Office and now turned the investigation over to officials with the FAA.
