Police said they arrested a group of children who brandished a gun and robbed a woman on the popular Westside BeltLine Trail.

Investigators tell FOX 5 News, the boy who displayed the gun to the woman was 11-years-old.

The ordeal happened Sunday night around 8 p.m. in the West End neighborhood on the BeltLine near Lawton Street SW.

The victim told the police, the children – who appeared to be 8 to 10 years old – asked to use her phone, and when she refused, they followed her.

The 11-year-old confronted the woman, displayed the gun in his waistband and demanded she hand over her phone and earphones.

The woman threw them on the ground and the boys fled towards Lawton Street. According to the woman's family, there were people around during the incident, and after the boys fled, she went to other pedestrians to ask for help.

Investigators said cameras on the BeltLine captured the 11-year-old's face. They were able to identify the juvenile as someone "known" to neighbors with a reputation for causing trouble.

Monday night, police said they were looking to arrest the juvenile with the gun at their home. The other children were arrested as well. Their ages and charges are not known.
