Parents of 1-year-old victim speak out after triple shooting

South Fulton Police continue to investigate a triple shooting Friday that landed two adults and a one-year-old child in the hospital. For the first time, the parents of the little boy spoke out, telling FOX 5 News they are still fearful for their lives.

"My kids were supposed to be going to about three Easter egg hunts actually," mother Arterious Sanders told FOX 5 News.

It is Jordan Sanders' second Easter; however, this one was drastically different from his first. The family, who did not want their faces on camera for safety reasons, spent the holiday at the hospital.

"They hurt my 1-year-old, who had nothing to do with this period," Sanders said, breaking into tears.

Jordan is recovering from a gunshot wound to the leg after his parents say an ongoing disagreement with neighbors at Hickory Park Apartments escalated to a reported burglary of Sanders' home, and then hours later, a triple shooting.

"They shot right through my window," Sanders said. "That's how they hit Jordan, and my baby was right there by the window."

It's unclear exactly how many people were involved in Friday's shooting that resulted in the hospitalization of Jordan plus two adults, but as of Friday, police said they have identified a suspect. Police told FOX 5 they have not yet been able to determine the burglary victims' possible role in the shooting.

In the meantime, the Sanders family fears for their lives; they are now desperately searching for another place to stay with what little they have.

"We don't have anything," Sanders said. "They stole everything we had."

From her kids' Easter outfits to social security cards, Sanders said practically everything to her name was taken in the burglary. But even so, the couple is feeling grateful to spend the holiday together safely in the confines of the hospital.

"It's much a relief," father Ceontae Trent said. "That's all I could ever ask for to have my baby, to know he is alright. That's the best feeling for a father in the world."
