ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Officials with the U.S. Custom and Border Protection said they expect to inspect more than 1,000 flowers a day at Atlanta International Cargo terminal for the upcoming Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
Socialists said they check for pests or insect coming into the country on the flowers. On Monday, flowers from Columbia and Costa Rica were inspected by CBP Agriculture Specialists. Officials said most of the cut flower shipments are imported from South America.
Officials said around 1.4 billion flowers came to the country for Valentine’s day in 2018.
CBP Agriculture Specialist’s busiest ports of entry are Miami and Los Angeles.
