Atlanta cuts the ribbon on a new aquatic center near Downtown Atlanta.

Dr. Bernice King was on hand to open the new Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation and Aquatic Center Monday morning.

It features two pools, a weight room, climbing wall, indoor track, and space for community events.

The new center replaces the old MLK Aquatic Center that closed in 2012 due to structural concerns.

Mayor Kasim Reed made a promise to rebuild the center before the end of his term and the community is celebrating a promise kept.
