How to prevent pipes from bursting this winter

Freezing cold temperatures can lead to freezing pipes. Experts at R.S. Andrews said there are a few things that can be done to protect the home.

First, disconnect all of those outdoor hoses.

When it comes to inside a house, start worrying when temperatures dip down to 20 degrees or below overnight and the highs don't get out of the 30s.

The biggest areas to think about are sinks that are on an exterior wall.

It's a good idea to drip the cold and warm water together to keep both lines moving.

And for sinks in the garage, the best bet is to turn off the water to that sink for the winter.
