Gwinnett County Police looking for missing 7-year-old boy

The Gwinnett County Police Department needs help locating a missing 7-year-old child who's believed to be with his mother's boyfriend.

According to police, Quamaine Finch, 7, is possibly with 42-year-old Ricardo Medy.

The little boy's mother was taken into custody in Fulton County last week for unknown charges, and that's when the child was left in the care of the mother's boyfriend, Medy. Since then, the Division of Family and Children's Services (DFCS) was awarded custody of Quamaine.

On Tuesday, Nov. 27, officers went to Medy's home in unincorporated Lawrenceville, but he would not answer.

"He refused to come to the door, but we made contact with him over the phone," Gwinnett Police Corporal Michele Pihera explained. "The suspect said that he did not have custody of the child anymore and that the child was in the custody of his biological father."

Investigators have obtained a warrant for Medy's arrest for interference with custody.

Medy called FOX 5's Claire Simms Monday afternoon and said the boy is safe, but that he does not recognize the authority of the police.

Police said they don't know where Medy or Quamaine are located. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gwinnett County Police Department at 770-513-5300.

A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for any information leading to an arrest. To remain anonymous, tipsters can call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
