Ruthless thieves break into an apartment in broad daylight and steal dangerous weapons and a delicate pup. Gina Gibson and her husband were at work Friday when they say crooks broke into their Marietta apartment.

Gina Gibson said they took two rifles, two handguns and a large 16-inch knife. She said there were several other weapons in a gun cabinet that her husband has collected over the years that they left behind.

She said she has four dogs, all Chihuahuas, but it was the tiniest one, a 3-pound tea cup Chihuahua named Carmen, that thieves scooped up.

“She's my baby. I've had her since she was one pound. She used to go to work with me every day, for six years she slept on my desk. She's like my kid,” said Gibson.

Gibson said there's no way her dog got frightened during the burglary and ran off.

“They took her bedding, her bed and her blankets that she sleeps with. Carmen didn't take off with her stuff on her own, they took her,” said Gibson.

Gibson said the police have all the information on the guns and prays they'll get them off the streets. But right now she desperately wants to find her little Carmen, who has special needs and requires special food. She's been putting up signs near her apartment complex off Bentley Road in Marietta. She's also offering a reward for Carmen's safe return.
