Georgia deputy arrested for allegedly working as a bus driver on duty

- Police have arrested a Georgia sheriff's deputy for allegedly working as a bus driver at the same time he was supposedly working at the sheriff's office.

Bibb County Deputy Henry Elmer Poole, 51, has been charged with felony theft and violating his oath of office.

Poole oversaw delivering county inmates to state prisons for the Bibb County system. Officials allege he also began working with the Macon-Bibb Transit Authority possibly earlier than January 2017.

Officer had received a report from someone who witnessed Poole at the wheel of a city bus, Bibb County Sheriff David Davis said. They then examined Poole's overtime payouts and discovered the alleged doubling up.

The theft from the Bibb County Sheriff's office is estimated to be $7,00 in wages.

Poole has been released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
