Unrest and turmoil in poverty-stricken Haiti is delaying a Georgia mission group from returning home.

The 22 members from Mount Olive Baptist Church in Hartwell, Georgia were supposed to wrap up their mission in Haiti and return home Saturday.

But violent protests broke out and road blocks went up after the Haitian government instituted a steep increase in the cost of fuel.

That prompted the U.S. Embassy to order the missionaries to stay put in camp.

The mission group doesn't know when they will get home, but leader and Pastor Jason Webb said they have everything they need in the camp and they are not in danger.

"No one has any regrets of coming down for this mission trip," Webb said. "Jesus is worth it, the Gospel is worth it, and the people of Haiti are worth it.

The Haitian government has bowed to pressure and rescinded the fuel price hike.
