Parents packed a drug summit in Forsyth County Monday night. Law Enforcement wanted parents to know the drugs kids are using and the signs to watch for.

Forsyth County Sheriff's Sgt. Tom Little pointed out signs for parents to look for in a child's bedroom.

"Soda cans in the trash can, not a big deal, unless they have small holes, burn marks, evidence that it has been converted into a marijuana pipe," said Sgt. Little.

The sergeant also pointed out a piece of a plastic baggie.

"It doesn't have to be a fancy plastic bag, a tiny corner of this bag could hold drugs," said Sgt. Little.

Little also pointed out what are called "legal intoxicants". These include cold medicine, spray paint some use for huffing, and a can of air that's used to clean computers.

"This is air duster you would use to clean out your keyboard. this is very popular right now, people are inhaling this and it will drop you to your knees in a couple of seconds," said Sgt. Little.

Leslie White is mom of three boys. She said the summit was eye-opening.

"Sticks in a trash can can be signs of pot, I didn't know that, I would have thought it was from the grass outside or something," said White.

White said it's better to face the facts than turn a blind eye to what could be happening in your own home.

"I think the more we know, the more we can help them and keep them from making decisions that can harm them in the future," said White.
