A Cobb County man has been arrested on several charges after a suspected street-racing crash that killed two people last week, authorities said Tuesday.

George Cambi, 19, of Austell, faces charges of vehicular homicide, reckless driving, racing and second-degree cruelty to children, according to Cobb County Police.

Cambi turned himself in at the Cobb County Jail on Monday, police said.

Patrick Duff and his friend James Wheeler died in the April 7 crash.

Duff and Wheeler were driving in a black Toyota on Bates Road, just turning on to Floyd Road in Mableton, when police said another driver – believed to be Cambi – slammed into them. Cambi also had a young child in the back seat, authorities said.

Witnesses reported seeing two vehicles racing before the crash.

Cambi was driving a silver or gray 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, police said, and investigators would like to talk to anyone who saw that vehicle on the afternoon of April 7. Call Cobb County Police at 770-499-3987 with any information.
