Deal lifts truck driver restrictions after pipeline blast
ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia's governor is lifting restrictions on the number of hours that truck drivers delivering fuel can work after an explosion shut down a pipeline in neighboring Alabama that supplies the Southeast.
Gov. Nathan Deal on Tuesday issued the executive order affecting truck drivers. Deal says the order is intended to prevent interruptions of fuel supply in Georgia and urged people not to alter their travel plans or use of fuel. His order is effective through Nov. 15.
Deal issued a similar order in September after a leak in the same Alabama pipeline led to gasoline shortages in several states.
Monday's blast killed one worker and injured several others. Investigators have not determined a cause.
