Community rallies after high school football player seriously injured

The Williamson community is asking for prayers and donations after a high school football player was badly injured during the Pike County High School football game on Friday night.

Dylan Thomas was hurt during the game and had to be airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital. The mayor of Williamson said Thomas has a brain injury and had to undergo surgery to relieve swelling on the teen’s brain. Thomas remains in a coma in ICU in critical condition.

Now, several local businesses are raising money to help the family with medical costs.

Papa John’s in Williamson is donating a portion of their proceeds over the weekend to the family.

The Whistle Stop gas station is also donating a portion of their proceeds to the family’s GoFundMe page. If you would like to donate to the Thomas family, click here
