SOUTH FULTON, Ga.
Police are investigating after someone fired shots into several South Fulton homes.
“What you are looking at is blinds where the bullet actually went through the blind,” said Delphine Knaff, the Neighborhood Watch Coordinator for the Sandtown Center subdivision.
Knaff showed FOX 5 News pictures of bullet holes through two homes in the city of South Fulton neighborhood.
Many of the houses back up to Boat Rock Road where the city of South Fulton Police tell us someone fired off apparently celebratory gunfire around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, which was the 4th of July.
“Just started shooting, you know I guess up in the air celebrating the 4th of July, not thinking that you can harm someone,” said Knaff.
A homeowner, who didn’t want his name used, told FOX 5 News one of the bullets pierced into his adult daughter’s bedroom.
“My daughter came up and say a bullet came through my window. It came through her window and went in the top of the house through the Sheetrock,” he said.
Another bullet, he says, caught his attention when it entered another upstairs room.
“There was a noise that I heard because it hit an ironing board and knocked it down. And I saw the bullet laying on the floor."
The homeowner says South Fulton Police took that slug and other evidence in for processing, hopeful they’ll find whoever fired the celebratory gunfire.
“You could hear fireworks and some of the stuff that sounded like regular fireworks. It was gunfire because that’s what came through my house,” he said.
He’s thankful walls, a window and an ironing board were hit instead of his daughter or someone else in the other home.
“It’s fortunate no one was hurt because it easily could have been different,” he said.
The South Fulton Police told Fox 5 News they do not have any vehicle description of the vehicle involved.
