Officers from three different police departments are looking for at least one person responsible for a Sunday night shooting at an Acworth gas station.

The gunfire rang out Sunday at the Chevron in the 3400 block of Baker Road. Witnesses say they saw a man sitting in a car parked along the side of the gas station, talking to someone else.

A single shot was fired, and a man ran inside frantically asking employees to call 911, saying his friend had been shot.

Paramedics rushed the victim to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. As of Sunday evening, police say he was shot in the jaw but that the injuries are not life-threatening.

A number of witnesses, including Tony Sweat, saw a car peal out of the gas station heading toward Kennesaw. Sweat told FOX 5 News he tried to get the tag number and that another person briefly chased the vehicle, helping police with a description.

Officers from Kennesaw and Cobb County joined Acworth in the search for the car and people inside.

Detectives think a total of four people played a role in the shooting. By Sunday evening police had taken three people into custody at different locations. Two of the three were arrested on drug charges. A third was released.

Police say evidence suggests that the shooting revolved around a possible drug transaction.

The names of the people involved, including the victim, have not been released by police.

They are asking anyone with any information on the shooting to call the Acworth Police Department at 770-974-1232.
