A mother charged in the weekend murders of her two young children waived her first court appearance Monday morning.

Lamore Williams, 24, is facing two counts of murder after police said her two sons, ages 1 and 2, were found dead and with burn injuries in their own southwest Atlanta home at the Oakland City West End complex.

Williams claims she left her three children from noon until 11:30 p.m. Friday with a caregiving, but investigators don't believe her. They think the children were left alone in the apartment.

"We were called out around 11 p.m. Friday on a person injured call," Atlanta Police Lieutenant Carven Tyus said. "When officers arrived they found two children, a one-year-old and a two year old, deceased. They had obvious injuries and burns on their bodies, but we don't have a cause of death at this time."

Police said the children sustained burns possibly from the stove.

"They've been sent to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office for autopsies, so we can figure out the cause of death," Tyus said.

Over the weekend, loved ones released pictures of the two boys. They also identified the third child who was in the home at the time as J.R., who police said was 3-years-old.

"That baby seen everything," said a tearful aunt at a vigil Saturday night, grateful the three-year-old survived the ordeal.

"I treated those babies as if they were mine... they didn't deserve this at all," said Ashley Strange, a next-door neighbor who was in tears; Strange and other loved ones ask themselves why the mother did not ask for help that night for a caregiver.

Williams is being held without bond.
