Georgia Aquarium celebrates sea lion anniversary

It was one year ago this month that two rescued sea lion pups were moved to their new home at Georgia Aquarium.  Now, Neptune and Jupiter are getting a week-long celebration honoring their successful first year in Atlanta.

Neptune and Jupiter were initially rescued in California, where they were found to be malnourished and underweight and eventually deemed unreleasable. The sea lions were then moved to Georgia Aquarium and in August 2015 and nursed back to health, and last spring, the Aquarium unveiled its new sea lion gallery, SunTrust Pier 225.

Neptune, Jupiter, and the rest of the sea lions now participate in a daily live presentation called Under the Boardwalk, during which guests can watch a live training session and learn more about these incredible animals.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning at the Georgia Aquarium, helping celebrate the one-year anniversary of the sea lion pups’ arrival.
