Canine Assistants takes part in GAgives on #GivingTuesday

- You hit the mall on Black Friday, bought local on Small Business Saturday, and shopped online on Cyber Monday.  Now, FOX 5's own future service dog Max and his friends hope people will support their mission of giving back on what's become known as Giving Tuesday.

The Georgia Center for Nonprofits created the GAgives initiative in 2012, raising awareness of Georgia's nonprofit agencies and helping them reach a broader audience of potential donors.  GAgives takes place on the Tuesday after Black Friday, known as Giving Tuesday, encouraging people to donate to their favorite charity.  People can search the GAgives on #GivingTuesday website for a list of local nonprofits, then easily make donations with just a few quick clicks.  One of the charities registered with GAgives is Canine Assistants, which teaches dogs to become service animals to people with special needs.  FOX 5 has partnered with Canine Assistants the past several months for Operation Max, in which we're helping prepare golden retriever Max for a future life as a service animal for a wounded veteran.

Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken spent the morning at the Canine Assistants farm in Milton, learning more about why GAgives on #GivingTuesday is so important to the organization, and why donations are essential to its mission.
