Burgers with Buck: Murph's

You probably remember Dale Murphy as the face of the Atlanta Braves organization in the 1980’s, but what you may not know about the two-time National League MVP is his passion for food.

When the Braves opened a new chapter in their organization by relocating from downtown Atlanta to SunTrust Park in Cobb County, Murphy decided to open not only a new chapter in his life, but a restaurant.  Murph’s at the Cobb Galleria Centre is a great place to eat before or after a Braves game, but also a pretty cool shrine to Dale Murphy while we wait for the folks in Cooperstown to figure out that he belongs there too.

They are known for great burgers and wings but the menu includes lots of other great option (I hear the cheese curds are unbelievable).

#BurgersWithBuck decided to stick with the baseball theme this week and check out the Double Header Burger.  This thing is huge. We’re talking two half-pound patties (that’s a full pound of fresh ground chuck if you’re scoring at home), topped with a healthy portion of bacon and American cheese. Sounds pretty good, huh?

Well, how about a little bit of behind the scenes, Inside Baseball info from #BWB. You know we always have your back. You won’t see this on the menu, but if you’re up to the challenge you can order any burger on the menu, “Murph’s Way”.  That means you add a fried egg, and pepper jelly, and to answer your question, yes, this is the way that Dale Murphy likes his burgers.  Remember, Shhhh! This is an insider tip from BWB. Don’t tell anybody. (haha).

One more thing. If you go to Murph’s before a Braves game, you can get your parking validated and go straight to SunTrust Park for the game for the low, cost of only $5.00. This is not a misprint. According to Murphy, who I’m told walked it and calculated it himself . . . it is .7 miles from Murph’s to the game. Think about, what better way to work off that one pound burger that you just enjoyed.
