Wrong-way driver killed in crash on I-20EB near I-285, police say

A driver has been killed in a wrong-way crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 20 just before Interstate 285 early Wednesday morning.

The crash was reported around 1:30 a.m. at the exit ramp to West Avenue.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a Honda Fit went the wrong way down the exit ramp and ended up going eastbound on the westbound lanes of the interstate..

Officials say the Honda hit a tractor-trailer driving in the right lane, spun out, and crashed against the guardrail on the right shoulder.

The woman who was driving the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not released her identity.

The crash shut down multiple lanes on the interstate while crews worked at the scene. The lanes have since been reopened.
