A SWAT standoff forced people out of their City of South Fulton County homes for hours early Monday morning.

Police responded to a home on Waverly Park Drive Sunday evening for a domestic dispute call. Arriving officers were told a man was barricaded inside and was holding hostages, including a child. After officers got to the house, those hostages managed to escape unharmed.

An hours-long standoff then began once the hostages escaped. Police negotiators tried to get the man to surrender, but he never came out.

Around 10 p.m., all the homes in the neighborhood were evacuated, forcing residents out into the streets.  They waited for hours for the standoff to come to an end.

Finally at around 3 a.m. Monday, SWAT team members went into the house and discovered the man wasn't there.
