The Atlanta Arts & Entertainment District (AA&ED) gave FOX 5 News a first-hand look at new digital signs Wednesday morning. Those signs will start going up around downtown early next year.

AA&ED is hoping to liven up downtown and increase nighttime activity through these new bright, programmed signs. One of the group’s main goals is to overcome the public's stereotype that downtown Atlanta lacks things to do and is dark as well as unsafe.

The first signs are scheduled to go up in late February.

Wednesday morning's event was held at 101 Marietta, which has been selected as the "pioneer" project by AA&ED.
