GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A Gwinnett County high school student has been diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB).
The student attends Discovery High School and is at home receiving treatment, according to the Gwinnett County Health Department.
The Gwinnett County Health Department said nearly 230 individuals were possibly exposed to TB and the school plans on placing tuberculin skin tests to those students on Wednesday. The tuberculin skin test (TST) will cause a reaction within 48 hours if the person has been infected with TB.
The health department said it’s important to remember TB is a disease that’s hard to spread.
