GBI investigating officer-involved shooting in northwest Atlanta
ATLANTA - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-involved shooting in northwest Atlanta.
Atlanta police were called to a home on Linkwood Road Thursday afternoon.
Officials said a resident returned to the home, found windows broken, and believed an estranged family member to be inside.
Officers tried to go inside, but a man stopped them, told the officers he was armed and made threatening comments.
The officers backed off and APD SWAT was called to the home.
At some point, police said the man walked to the front door, that’s when a SWAT officer then shot him in the abdomen.
Police said the man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.
His name and condition were not released late Thursday evening.
