A former Atlanta Police officer is in jail and charged with murder.

FOX 5 has exclusively learned Shawn Clark, 29, is accused of shooting and killing a man during an altercation Saturday in Douglas County.

Clark worked for APD from 2010 to 2013 before resigning. At the time, Clark was under investigation for allegations he wasn't telling the truth on the job, according to APD.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Clark and a woman drove to a house on Winding Creek Drive Saturday to pick up the woman's children and belongings. At that time, the children's father, 28-year-old Antonio Ellison, walked out of the house and got into an argument with Clark.

Deputies say the argument erupted into a physical fight, which ended with Clark fatally shooting Ellison, who wasn't armed.

Authorities later arrested Clark Saturday night in Union City.

Tae Cannon, Ellison's brother, spoke with FOX 5 Tuesday.

Cannon was shocked to hear about Clark's work history as an officer.

"He should know how to handle things the right way," Cannon said.

Cannon also says his brother's ex-girlfriend should've never brought Clark to the house.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the case and details remain under investigation.
