Atlanta Braves to extend netting to foul poles

The Atlanta Braves have announced they plan to extend the netting at SunTrust Park for fan safety.

The new netting will extend to the foul poles, the Braves announced on Twitter Monday.

The team says, barring any complications, the project should be done by the end of September.

"The extension will provide additional protection for our fans while preserving the overall game-day experience as much as possible," the team said.

In recent years, there has been an increase in high profile incidents where fans have been hurt by balls and bats flying into the stands.
