Loved ones of a man shot and killed when he knocked on the wrong apartment door came together Tuesday evening to mourn his death.

Family members identified that man as 19-year-old Omarian Banks.

His loved ones gathered in Riverdale Tuesday evening for a vigil.

Police said the 19-year-old was looking for his girlfriend's home at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex early Friday when he knocked on the wrong door.

Investigators said words were exchanged and a person who lives in that apartment shot and killed the teen.

Darryl Bynes, the person police accused of killing the teen, was charged with murder.

Bynes told officers he fired in self-defense.

His family told FOX 5 News Bynes was only trying to protect his family.
