Police: Woman shot while in bed, dies

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - DeKalb County Police say a woman shot in her home has died.

Patricia Myrick, 59, passed away Thursday. She was able to speak with police following the shooting.

Officers were called to Myrick's home on Lawndale Court on Tuesday morning. The call came in around 3:15 a.m. Myrick told police she was awakened by gunfire. A bullet struck her leg.

Emergency crews rushed Myrick to the hospital in stable condition. At one point, things took a turn. Myrick died.

Investigators say they have not made any arrests in this case. They have not released details regarding a motive.
